The 5 Most Interesting Revelations From The JFK Files So Far

President Trump made headlines when he authorized the release of a slew of previously unreleased documents associated with the assassination of President Kennedy.

The 2,891 documents released reveal a lot of information about the events leading up to the event and what transpired after while also covering the assassination itself.

Here are some of the most revealing aspects of the new information.

1. Someone else may have known about the assassination before it occurred.

According to the new documents, an anonymous caller contacted a British newspaper approximately 25 minutes before Kennedy’s death and gave a tip about “some big news” that was about to go down in America.

According to a memo from FBI director J. Edgar Hoover: “The caller said only that the Cambridge News reporter should call the American Embassy in London for some big news and then hung up.”

Lawyer Michael Eddowes believes that the caller was a Soviet agent named Albert Osborne who was a friend of Lee Harvey Oswald. Eddowes’ theory is that the call was made because “the Soviet Union was eager that the assassination should be seen as a conspiracy.”

2. Documents suggest that Kennedy took part in sex parties.

Before Kennedy was President, but while he was still a senator, private detective Fred Otash interviewed a “high-class Hollywood call girl” named Sue Young in an effort to dig up dirt on him.

During their conversations, Otash asked her about her attendance at sex parties with Senator Kennedy, but Young said that she had “no knowledge of such activities.” When he wasn’t getting anywhere, Otash then asked Young to reach out to Kennedy to try and get him to make “indiscreet statements,” but she didn’t bite.

The detective implied that he was working for a magazine that was looking for dirt on Kennedy prior to the 1960 election.

3. A man bet on Kennedy’s death a week earlier

Robert C. Rawls was sitting in a New Orleans bar when he overheard a conversation between two men. His ears perked up when he heard one of them bet the other $100 that Kennedy would be dead within the next three weeks. This according to a memo released by a secret service agent that later interviewed Rawls.

Of course, Rawls paid little attention to the man thinking that he was probably drunk, but when the bet came true, he was understandably disturbed.

The man who made the bet was never identified.

4. The Soviets were incredibly worried about getting the blame.

After the events took place, the Soviet Union was in full panic mode believing that they would be the recipients of a nuclear strike if blamed for the assassination. They thought that the U.S. might believe that they put Lee Harvey Oswald up to the task.

Of course, that strike never occurred, but Russians officials were so worried that they even hired spies to get the full story on what kind of person Lyndon B. Johnson was so they could use any dirt they found to protect themselves.

This certainly fed into one of the conspiracy theories that Johnson was so hellbent on becoming president that he was part of the plan to assassinate JFK.

The soviet union later disowned Oswald, calling him a “neurotic madman who was disloyal to his own country and everything else.”

5. The FBI received a death threat for Lee Harvey Oswald the day before his murder.

After Kennedy’s murder, but before Oswald’s, the FBI received a call from an unknown source who “spoke in a calm voice” while he told the agent that he would personally be killing Oswald.

Many people might think that it was Jack Ruby who made the phone call since was the one who did end up killing Oswald, but Ruby, who says that he acted alone, states that he did not make the call to the FBI that day.
