Many people want to excel at work. Once you land a nice job, you may want to get a promotion so you can make more money for yourself and your family. 

Sometimes, getting a promotion can be harder than it seems. There may be someone else who gets a job that you really wanted. Promotion opportunities at your work may also be far and few between. 

So, how do you make more money?

Start by putting your faith in God and the love of Jesus Christ. God can help you get a promotion at work.

If you’re not a religious person, you may be tempted to close this page and ignore this advice and think it’s stupid, but we urge you not to. There are some facts to consider. Here’s one of them:

God has never let you down.

You may think that’s wrong, but think about it. 

When have you ever slept without a roof over your head? Most of us live in a house of some kind. Even homeless people have a tent or other covering to protect them from the elements. In fact, the bible hints that God may love homeless people more than we realize.

When is the last time you went an entire day without a meal? You may not have had a five-course meal. You may not have eaten more than a snack during the day. But have you ever gone hungry for days or weeks at a time? Probably not. 

God doesn’t want you to suffer. He loves you, and he wants you to be okay. He even loves people that don’t believe in him because he is our Heavenly Father.

So, that means that he also wants you to pay your bills and be happy. Some people don’t want a promotion. Some people are happy working entry-level jobs. They don’t have a lot of responsibility and they like it that way. If that’s you, then that’s fine. God will provide for you.

However, many people want more out of their personal and professional lives. They want to make a bit more money so they can buy food, pay rent, and support their families. If you want a promotion and God thinks this move is right for you, he will help.

God already knows you want that job

You may not realize it, but God knows everything that will happen in your life. He knew it before you were born. So, if he knows that you want and deserve a promotion, he will make it happen. It can also help to pray for the promotion so you can show God that you care and that you recognize that he’s in charge. 

Have faith in God that he will provide, you will get it.

But make sure that it’s right

Now, just because you want a promotion, it doesn’t mean you’ll get it. If you don’t, there’s a reason for it that you likely don’t see. There are many reasons God may not allow a promotion:

• You could be overworked and get sick in the new position.
• You could work so much that you lose your family.
• God could have a different and better promotion planned for you.
• God may have a new job ready for you outside of this company that is better overall.
• The promotion could lead to a life of sin (theft, lying, etc)
• Someone else may get that position, and you may get a different position that’s better for you.

They say that “everything happens for a reason.” That’s not really true. God is in control. However, everything he does is for a reason. 

If you didn’t get the promotion you thought you wanted, you may just have to wait a bit longer.

God has taught you the lessons for how to succeed

Another way that God can help you get a promotion at work is to learn more about him and the lessons he has provided. Read the bible, go to a good bible-believing church, and learn more about God, and you’ll learn all of the lessons you need to have a great work ethic and get that promotion. 

Start by following the commandments and lessons of the Bible: 

• Don’t steal at work and you’ll never have to worry about getting fired or having a bad mark on your record. 
• Don’t take the Lord’s name in vain or use obscene language at work, and you’ll be seen as professional. 
• Don’t lie or gossip about coworkers, as that will also look bad when it comes time for a promotion. 

There are also many lessons in the bible about how we should work hard. In 1st Corinthians, it says to “work with all of your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men.” Pretend that Jesus Christ was your boss. You probably wouldn’t want to let him down. Work that hard and your managers will notice.

In Proverbs 10, it tells us that being lazy can lead to poverty and working hard makes us rich. It makes us rich with money but also with character, which many managers value more than anything else. 

In Colossians 3:22, it says to work hard for your owners (management) as you would for the Lord.

The point is that if you are a great employee who has a good work ethic, you will get the promotion that you deserve. Remember to follow these common sense practices:

• Show up to work on time.
• Be friendly.
• Complete your assignments on time.
• Don’t gossip at work.
• Don’t bad mouth your company to customers or clients.

Use common sense, logic, and your conscience (Holy Spirit) when making decisions at work, and your management will appreciate you and want you to grow with the company.

You can talk directly to God

God often answers prayers, even for people that don’t believe in him. However, you can solidify your relationship by accepting Jesus Christ as your savior and being born again. Then, you’ll be part of the family. You’ll have God as your Heavenly Father.

Just like a real dad who cares for his kids, you can speak to God through prayer, and he will listen. This is the time to ask God for his guidance. If you want a certain promotion, talk to him about it. Don’t just say, “Can I have it, please?” Tell him that you need it and why. During your prayer time, you may get some answers back. The Holy Spirit will talk to you.

Don’t just pray once and hope for the best. Pray daily and more than once per day when you can. Whether it’s just for your promotion or for anything you need in life. Praying also provides a nice chance to thank God for the many things he has done. Your family, food on the table, money in your pocket, and more. God can help you get a promotion at work. Just have faith.

Make no mistake. That is God who is watching over you. He controls everything in the world and the universe at once, and he and his son Jesus Christ truly love you.

Even if you start to believe the fact that Jesus died on the cross for our sins, you may not realize how simply believing in Jesus can make you happy. Having Jesus in your life can make you happy in a number of ways:

1. You know you’ll have eternal life after death.

God sent his son, Jesus Christ, to earth to die for our sins. All we have to do is truly believe that Jesus died on the cross for our sins, confess our sins, and repent, and we will go to heaven. Keep in mind that just doing good things isn’t enough to go to heaven. You need to also believe in what Jesus did for every man, woman, and child.

If you believe that, you’ll go to heaven. There’s something wonderful about knowing that no matter what happens to you during your life, that you’re going to heaven. The alternative is to spend all of eternity after your death in Hell. It will be a dreadful place. 

By knowing that believing in Jesus can save you, you can be truly happy.

2. You have protection from Satan

Satan, the Devil, or “evil in the world.” Whatever you call it, Satan is real. He is a fallen angel who roams the earth looking for people to tempt and he’ll mess up your life. Satan is the reason why we deal with addictions and why we argue with friends and family and why we feel stress and pain. 

Why is there evil in the world if God is up there to protect us? It all began in the Garden of Eden. Adam and Eve ate fruit of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. God told them not to, but Satan tempted them, and they fell for it. As a result, sin entered the world, and it’s been here ever since. Since we are all children of Adam, we are all born with sin in our hearts whether we like it or not.

However, Jesus Christ died on the cross for all of our sins. When you truly believe in him, you will be one of God’s children. As a result, you can pray and ask God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit for help at any time and they will be there to listen. Then, you can have comfort in knowing that Jesus will always have your back.

3. You’ll know that you’ll always have everything you need in life.

Another reason why people are so happy when they know Jesus is because they know that they’ll always have what they need to survive. No, not everyone who believes in God and Jesus is rich. In fact, most Christians aren’t rich. However, as God’s children, they never have to worry about not having enough food or being able to pay the bills. Also, when you’re rich, it’s easier to believe that you did it yourself and that God had no part in it. You don’t want to take God out of the equation.

Believers in Christ are happy because they know that they’ll always be okay. Even if they end up getting sick, they still know that they’re going to heaven.

4. You’ll stay out of trouble.

When you are a follower of Jesus Christ and you want to do what’s right in God’s eyes, then you’ll want to follow the 10 commandments. When you’re born again, you’ll not only see these as a list of commands but also a list of things that you want to do. As a result, you’ll have an easier life and stay out of trouble.

You won’t be tempted to lie, which will help you to keep your mind clean. You won’t want to steal so you won’t always be looking over your shoulder. You won’t want to commit adultery, so you’ll have a stronger relationship with your husband or wife. 

In general, you’ll be happier because you won’t feel guilty about what you do everyday.

5. Heaven is an Amazing place.

Christians who are born again and truly believe in what Jesus Christ did for them are happy because they know how wonderful heaven will be when they get there. The bible says that the streets are paved with gold and that everyone who goes to heaven will have their own mansion. That’s part of the reason why many people who are poor in this life are happy. They know they’ll be living a good life in heaven. Plus, they know that they won’t have to burn for eternity in hell. 

6. You’ll have a loving Heavenly Father.

Finally, being saved and believing in what Jesus Christ did for us provides the ultimate reward. It’s that we will have God as our heavenly father. While God helps everyone in the world (it’s why you’re able to wake up each morning), he also loves his children (believers). When you’re one of his, you have a direct line of communication with the heavenly father and it’s truly wonderful. This is especially true for people who didn’t know their father or had an abusive or bad father on earth.
